About Me
I am a local resident of Lawrenceville, LEED AP, sustainability advocate,  and architectural designer for educational buildings and spaces.  This project is a way of creating an accessible little educational resource for everyone in the neighborhood.  The residents in our neighborhood come from all walks of life and this project would promote literacy and community in a new and fun way for all ages.  Our neighborhood would be the SECOND one in Lawrenceville to add a Little Free Library!

The primary goal is to build a Little Free Library in our neighborhood.  The secondary goal is to build a Little Free Library in a many neighborhoods in Lawrenceville as possible.

About Little Free Libraries
The Little Free Library movement is catching fire! The number of registered Little Free Libraries grows with each passing day and there has never been a more exciting time to create a registered Little Free Library Steward! Registration supports programs such as Little Free Libraries for Small Towns, the international program Books For All and outreach to isolated elderly adults.

Integrated Library-Bench Design
Help us build this Little Free Library for Lawrenceville, Georgia.  This design, created by me, includes a small solar panel for interior lighting.  It is located in close proximity to a street lamp for safety at night.  There is an integrated bench for reading and choosing your book.  Colors will be black and white with a pop of yellow in the book cavity.  Materials will be green and made from recycled materials as possible.

Pricing Estimate
$300 for the library and bench: recycled wood, hardware, recycled hinged door, paint, poly coating, concrete setting, and solar powered light fixture.

$80 for landscaping: flowers, mulch, and ground cover for shaded area beneath the bench.
$50 equipment: hole plow, mixer

$35 for official charter membership from LittleFreeLibrary.org: plaque and indexed location and number
$18 for builder recognition plaque
*5% to Kickstarter fees
*3-5% to Amazon fees

All remaining funds after fees are deducted will go to purchasing new/gently used books to keep the library stocked and maintained over the next five years and throughout its stewardship.

This library will not be used as a dump for unwanted books, but will be used as a nexus for great and inspired books that neighbors just have to read!

Users will be encouraged to leave notes for the next reader in the books they borrow.

If contributions are double the goal or more, additional Little Free Libraries with this design will be built, registered, and installed in other locations in the Lawrenceville area and Gwinnett County.

Risks and challenges 

The risk with this project is potential abuse or vandalism, but because of the small scale of this Little Free Library, fixes are quick and easy. I am an architectural designer and can patch up this pretty little baby when the time comes. We can always find more paint and more books!
